Porticus For Mac OS X
Porticus is an application that provides a GUI front-end for the MacPorts project, which manages port packages. The software is available for free and is still in beta. This application provides contextual menus, a tree view and a search box.
Porticus was designed to work with other Mac OS X applications. It can be downloaded and installed using Fink, a package management system, which is more user-friendly than Homebrew.
Porticus works with a variety of partners to address global societal challenges. It focuses on four areas: sustainability, human dignity, social justice and faith. There are over 1,500 partners worldwide. Porticus also supports UNLEASH initiatives related to climate action.
One of the earliest porticus in Rome was built in 193 B.C. by the gens Aemilia. The light structure was located near Piazza Bocca della Verita.
Another of the earliest porticus was the Porticus Miliaria, which was built by Nero within the domus Aurea. It may have consisted of three porticoes. Some of the porticoes were destroyed during the 442 earthquake.
Other structures built in the Roman era included the Porticus Octaviae and the Porticus Metelli. They were both located near Circus Flaminius. In 203 CE, the Porticus Octaviae was partially destroyed by fire.
The Porticus Octaviae was a complex compound of many buildings, including temples to Juno and Jupiter. Octavia, Augustus's sister, worked on its reconstruction.
At one time, the porticus was about 120 meters wide. The south-west entrance was made of four white marble Corinthian columns. On the backside of the portico were four additional Corinthian columns. Toward the north, the colonnade continued to the Circus Flaminius.
